About this rate
An exchange rate is the ratio between two currencies. ETB/KMF on this page means how much Comorian Franc one unit of Ethiopian Birr buys; the inverse rate is the same relationship read the other way.
The rates here are daily reference mid-rates. They are good for estimating an amount or reading a trend, but they are not any institution's dealing price. Banks, bureaux de change and payment providers all add a spread and fees on top of the mid-rate, so what you actually receive is usually less than the figure computed here.
Every pair is derived from each currency's rate against the US dollar (ETB/KMF = USD/KMF ÷ USD/ETB), so cross rates between two thinly traded currencies carry more error than the major pairs.

- How often do these rates update?
- The source publishes once a day; our scheduled job checks hourly and replaces the data as soon as something newer arrives. The "data date" at the top of each page is the day the displayed rates belong to.
- Why does my bank quote a different rate?
- What you see here is a reference mid-rate. A bank's buy and sell prices sit on either side of the mid-rate, with fees on top, so a gap is expected. For anything sizeable, go by the quote your provider gives you at the time.
- Which currencies are covered?
- 158 in total: 154 active ISO 4217 fiat currencies, plus gold, silver, platinum and palladium priced per troy ounce. Pre-euro legacy currencies such as the Deutsche Mark and French franc, and superseded codes, are left out.
- Why are some days missing from the chart?
- Only points that were actually fetched get drawn — no value is carried over from the previous day. Where the source has no figure for a date, the chart simply skips it rather than interpolating.
