Example
Input
sample.png (generated, 1200×800) · width 600 · height auto · fit inside
Example result
sample-600x400.png · 600×400 · PNG
With only the width set, height follows the original 3:2 ratio to 400 px. At 600×600 with crop to fill, the left and right edges are cropped evenly.
Technical details & limits
Downscaling by more than 2x halves the image step by step before the final resize, using Canvas high-quality interpolation to reduce aliasing and moiré. Crop to fill scales up until the target is covered, then crops from the center; pad to fit places the whole image and fills the rest with the chosen color. Upscaling is off by default: when the target is larger than the original, the original size is kept and noted. Upscaling only interpolates and cannot restore detail. Dimensions are rounded to whole pixels, with output capped at 50 megapixels and 16,384 px per side.
About this tool
Batch-change pixel dimensions locally in your browser. Set width and height and choose fit inside, crop to fill, pad to fit or stretch, or scale everything by percentage or by longest side. Common size presets, an optional upscale switch and output as the original format, JPEG, PNG or WebP are included. Each image shows old and new dimensions and size, with a comparison preview, single downloads and a ZIP bundle.
How to use
- Drop, choose or paste images, up to 30 at a time.
- Pick a mode: width and height (with presets and fit options), percentage, or longest side.
- Set output format, quality and fill color as needed, then download single files or a ZIP.
Input & output
- Input
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and GIF (first frame); up to 30 files, each at most 50 MB and 50 megapixels.
- Output
- Resized JPEG, PNG or WebP files named with their new dimensions, downloadable singly or as a ZIP.
- Limits
- Percentage 1%–400%; output at most 50 megapixels and 16,384 px per side; metadata and animation are not kept.
Notes
Pixel size is not print size; this tool does not set DPI. For smaller files, run the result through the image compressor afterwards.
FAQ
- How do I resize an image to 1920×1080 without distortion?
- Select the 1920×1080 preset, then choose how the image should fit. Crop to fill keeps the proportions, scales until the frame is covered and trims the overflow from the center. Pad to fit keeps the whole picture and fills the empty bands with your chosen color. Only stretch changes the proportions, so a 4:3 photo forced into 16:9 will look visibly distorted and should be avoided for faces or text.
- Does scaling an image down by percentage make it blurry?
- Scaling down usually does not, because it only reduces the pixel count. Reductions larger than 2x are first halved in steps and then finished with high-quality interpolation, so a 50% reduction stays sharp. Enlarging is different: at 200% the browser interpolates new pixels from existing ones, which softens edges and adds no real detail. The maximum allowed setting is 400%, and upscaling must be enabled explicitly.
- How can I batch-resize photos so the longest side is 1600 pixels?
- Choose the longest side mode and enter 1600. A landscape photo of 4000×3000 becomes 1600×1200, and a portrait photo of 3000×4000 becomes 1200×1600, so every image keeps its own orientation and proportions. Images already smaller than 1600 pixels keep their original size by default; tick allow upscaling if you also want those enlarged to the same length. Up to 30 files can be processed together.
