Example result

Payment, interest, fee and total outlay

The one-time fee is not amortized into the payment.

Technical details & limits

Monthly payment uses the annuity formula. The one-time fee is principal times fee rate and is not converted into an APR.

About this tool

Calculate fixed renovation-loan payments, total interest, one-time fees and overall financing cost.

Use cases

  • Work out the monthly payment on a renovation loan priced in months.
  • Fold the fee into the cost to see how far the real outlay sits above the headline rate.
  • Compare total interest across different numbers of instalments.

How to use

  1. Enter the principal, the number of monthly instalments and the annual rate.
  2. Enter any one-off fee as a rate.
  3. The result gives the monthly payment, total interest and the total outlay including the fee.

Notes

Fee structures vary widely — some charge a monthly service fee, others deduct a fee up front. This page uses the annual rate and single fee rate you enter, so check against the contract’s actual terms before signing.

FAQ

How is a one-percent renovation loan handling fee calculated?
This tool calculates a one-time handling fee by multiplying principal by the entered fee rate. A principal of 100000 with a 1% fee produces a charge of 1000, shown separately from modeled loan interest. These values are examples rather than a statement of any lender's pricing. Check whether the actual contract charges such a fee and when it is paid before comparing the result with a financing offer.
Is a one-time fee already included in the renovation loan's monthly payment?
The displayed monthly payment follows the equal-payment interest model and does not spread the one-time fee across those installments. For a 100000 loan with a 1000 fee, the fee is added separately to total cost. Review its actual payment timing when planning cash flow. The displayed installment alone is therefore not a complete financing schedule and cannot directly establish an effective annual cost for the borrowing arrangement.
Is renovation loan interest plus fees the same as an annual percentage rate?
Interest plus fees gives this model's total financing cost, not an annual percentage rate. Loans over 12 and 24 periods have different payment timing even when principal is identical. An effective annual cost calculation must account for the actual cash flows and when each charge is paid. This page reports equal-payment interest and a separate one-time fee, so do not read their sum as a quoted annual rate.
